Founded in 1967, Meichang Group has grown from a small factory with more than 10 employees in Hong Kong to an international toy manufacturer with two large factories in Dongguan and Shaoguan, China, and sales offices in the United States and France. The Mechon Group is an integration of a number of subsidiary companies that work together to innovate and manufacture toys and simulation products. The Maisto brand was registered by Hong Kong parent company Mechang in 1990 and acquired the Italian brand Bburago in 2005.
Over the past decades, Mechon has focused on quality management systems and its factories are implementing QC, QA and IQC systems in strict compliance with international SQL standards. In addition, all plants have in-house laboratories equipped with qualified testing instruments. To date, it has six self-developed brands: Maisto, Bburago, Polistil, Muscle Machines and BB Junior. In 2005, the Group’s factories successfully passed the ICTI (International Council of Toy Industry) CARE standard.
The purpose of the CARE standard is to enable the global toy industry to assure consumers that its products are produced in a safe and humane environment. To provide a single, fair, thorough and consistent standard to monitor whether toy factories are complying with the industry’s code of business conduct.
